A Guide, Not a RuleThese charts are a starting point, not a final answer. Two players the same height can swing different bats depending on strength, swing and what feels right in their hands. The best way to know is to swing a couple of lengths and drops in our demo cage.

Fastpitch Bat Length by Height & Weight
Height is the best place to start. Length follows the player's size, and drop weight follows age and strength. This chart is condensed from Easton's height-and-weight chart. Within each height range, heavier players land toward the longer end.

Easton and DeMarini publish the same starting lengths by age. Use this as a cross-check. If age and height point to different lengths, go with height.

Fastpitch Drop Weight by Age
Drop weight is a bat's length in inches minus its weight in ounces. A 31" bat that weighs 21 oz is a -10. The higher the level of play, the heavier the bat most hitters swing. Ages below are DeMarini's guidance.

16+For strong high school and college hitters who can control a heavier swing.

14+A step heavier than -10 for older hitters with the strength to keep bat speed.
