Pelican Bat Wax® was founded in 2013 in San Francisco, CA. They use only the finest all-natural ingredients available, and every product is hand-made in their shop.
Through each step of development, they work closely with players to test their products, and guarantee they will perform at every stage of the game. We hope you take Pelican to the field with you for years to come.
ABOUT THE OWNER: DAVE PHILLIPS
Dave grew up in a huge family of die-hard Giants fans. He fell in love with baseball at an early age, and some of his best memories are watching games at Candlestick Park with his parents and siblings.
After many years and two successful companies in the print industry, he decided to apply his business skills toward a career in the world of baseball. In 2013, the first batches of Pelican Bat Wax were poured in a third-floor Mission District apartment on a stovetop with a double-boiler purchased at The Salvation Army. These early samples were passed out to friends at Sunday afternoon games, and he began rigorously testing different formulas in search of the perfect combination.
The wholesale demand grew enough that in February 2015, the operation doubled in size and Pelican Bat Wax now has it's own dedicated production space. Dave continues to build relationships with all levels of players - from high school students and coaches, all they way up to the big leagues. He is currently testing two new products he hopes to debut in the early spring.
Dave is lucky to be able to ride his bike across town to catch games at AT&T Park. He spends his free time playing ball in a vintage league, exploring the SF Bay Area, and searching for the perfect beer/slice of pizza combination.
