BTL Staff Review

The missing web is the whole idea. You get a full-size mitt, but you have to receive the ball in the pocket instead of letting the web rescue a missed spot. If your training is focused on cleaner receiving without switching to a tiny mitt, this is a useful choice.

Description

  • Size: 35" circumference
  • Throwing Hand: Right-hand throw
  • Position: Catcher training
  • Pattern: The Equalizer
  • Web: Webless
  • Training Purpose: Pocket awareness and receiving
  • Sport: Baseball

Why does The Equalizer have no web?

The open area encourages catchers to receive the ball in the pocket rather than the web.

Can it be used for live bullpens?

Yes. All-Star states that its full-build construction can be used for live bullpens.

Is it an undersized trainer?

No. It has a full 35-inch circumference. Its training feature is the missing web, not a smaller catching surface.
