The 2027 Rawlings Heart of the Hide PRORFM18-17N is a 12.5-inch left-hand-throw first-base mitt for players who want a controllable FM18 pattern with a faster break-in than a traditional Heart of the Hide. Its Modified H-Web and deep first-base pocket provide a stable receiving area for picks and stretches without the extra bulk of a 13-inch mitt.
Top-grade U.S. steerhide gives the mitt dependable structure, while Rawlings’ R2G construction completes more of the break-in at the factory. A reduced heel pad helps the mitt close more easily, but the player still has enough break-in responsibility to shape the pocket and hinge. Shell leather palm lining, a padded thumb sleeve, and a thermoformed wrist liner add support and comfort around the hand.
Navy and Teal create the main color story, with bright accent details giving the mitt a much more energetic look than a traditional brown or black first-base model. The 12.5-inch FM18 is a strong choice for high-school, travel, college, or adult first basemen who want a quicker and more manageable mitt without giving up a deep pocket.
