BTL Staff Review

The Icon -5 carries more weight in the barrel and is a great fit for an older, stronger travel-ball hitter. We like it for gap and middle-of-the-order hitters who want to drive the baseball and prefer a smooth feel at contact. It has plenty of pop when squared up. This Fest colorway gives it a bold look.

BTL TipMost 13 year olds playing travel ball are on a -5. That is the right stepping stone before the jump to BBCOR. If your player is heading into 9th grade, get comfortable with the heavier drop now so the transition is not a shock.

Is the Icon Fest -5 a one-piece alloy bat?

No. It is a two-piece composite model with an In/Tense Carbon Composite Barrel.

Who is the Icon Fest -5 best for?

Strong travel-ball hitters who can control a heavier, slightly loaded swing while preparing for BBCOR.

How demanding is the -5 model?

It requires more strength and barrel control than a -8 or -10, particularly because of its Mid-Loaded profile.
