The Wilson A2000 SA17 carries the influence of Wilson Master Glove Craftsman Shigeaki Aso and two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Aso designed the SA17 around the distinctive pitcher-glove architecture associated with Ohtani, translating that inspiration into a 12-inch retail pattern.
The model is also one of the rare A2000 releases made in Japan. Most A2000 gloves are produced in Vietnam, while Japanese production is normally associated with Wilson’s premium A2K line and select special models. That makes this SA17 an unusual combination: an Aso-designed, Ohtani-inspired pattern with Japanese Wilson craftsmanship at the A2000 level.
Its Closed Two-Piece Web conceals pitch grips, while the 12-inch length provides the pocket depth and coverage needed on the mound. The glove’s modified wrist strap and Gap Welting support a comfortable two-in-the-pinky setup and help stabilize the glove’s pinky side.
Pro Stock Leather supplies the durable structure expected from the A2000 line. Comfort Pro Fit and a moisture-wicking DriLex wrist liner improve comfort during long practices and innings, while the Black, Teal, and White colorway gives the glove a modern finish.
